I have discovered the minimalist style very early as I celebrated in the nineties and early two thousand years, my youth, and of course left out no trend of that time.
Bell bottoms, platform shoes, belly shirts, neon shirts, you name it.
After that, I was very inspired by alternative fashion. I wanted to feel like an artist, so I just mingled in trendy places with all the budding artists and spent time with them. Photographers, actors, singers, everything was there. Their clothing style was very much grunge mixed with vintage pieces.
That's also when I had my first touches with vintage clothing, which at that time (yes I'm from the stone age) wasn't as popular and trendy as it is today.
I visited the first vintage stores in Berlin and found myself very hip at the time as you can imagine.
So I traveled through my personal fashion eras and ended up with my current style. Minimalist with a little something extra. That's how I would describe it.
The noncolor black then played the main role in my closet, although I also like to assign various roles to other neutral colors.
Timeless, elegance, strength, grace. All attributes with which I identify myself.
So over time, I have accumulated a good assortment of selected pieces.
Blazers, classic tops with a bit of sophistication, cloth pants, turtlenecks, and faux leather pants are pieces that are part of my basics and that I couldn't do without.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to copy a trend and not invest in a minimalist wardrobe just because it's trendy. This is true for all trends.
It's better to take your time and explore what you like. With every piece that you are about to buy, ask yourself honestly the question, do I like it or not? The first answer you get is the right one.
Maybe my style will change in the next few years. who knows. Change is the only constant, so maybe it will still change.
When I reach my seventies I definitely want to wear more gold. Let's see if there will be pictures of it at that point.
But in until then, I'm going to stay true to my style and my current preferences for a bit.
